The Jesus Freaks Come Out At Night

It’s the beginning of Easter weekend, and dance floor denizens will rejoice as LA*Jesus rises once again! LA* J (alterego of Nate Euhus) takes the stage at Chicago’s Berlin Nightclub on Thursday, March 28 (otherwise known as Holy Thursday) and will spin his blend of nu-disco, deep house and tech-house music into the early hours of Good Friday, celebrating the release of his debut single Jesus Freaks (out April 2 on Dead 2 Me Records). Euhus not only wrote and produced the new single (an ode to his devoted fan base), he sings and rhymes on it. The Jesus Freaks single will be released as a Beatport exclusive on April 2nd, 2013.

Light Year (Bang Gang/Modular), currently on tour from Sydney, Australia, will make his Chicago debut that evening as well, while Dead 2 Me Records label honcho Bill Holland, aka Mr. Automatic, warms things up.

The winner of the Dead 2 Me Records and Do 312 Jesus Freaks Remix Contest will be announced live onstage.

Square Frames release remix of Kaskade “Raining”

A while back, the gentlemen in Square Frames entered a remix competition with the idea of honing their remixing skills. Nothing much was heard of the competition and the Square Frames track was shelved. Until now.

At the time the remix was originally finished, all our boys in Square Frames knew about Kaskade was that he at one point in time held a residency at the Chicago club institution SMARTBAR. It seems the Square Frames musical tastes kept them in the dark about Kaskade’s status as an international arena club superstar.

After a re-mastering of the original, we are now offering a free download of the unreleased Kaskade remix. We are quite fond of it. Enjoy!

It’s been a minute since Square Frames released their debut single “It’s Happening Again”. For the past few months, they’ve been compiling new material and honing their live edits set. The first in a line of new releases from Dead 2 Me Records, “Doin’ It To It” hearkens back to the days of classic 90′s house music with funky sampled basslines and vocal stabs along with live guitar and synthesizer solos. The Disrupt the Scene remix brings the old school sound to the cavern-esque downtown clubs with its earth-shattering bass kicks and massive brass ensemble drop. Bringing it back to house, the third remix from the Mr. Automatic and onefiftyone offers a more DJ-friendly, French House take on their own track. We’ve been waiting to drop this one for a while here at the Dead 2 Me Records, but doing things the correct way always equals doing things the hard way. This has been a long time coming and we’re finally very excited to announce the release of the first single from Chicago’s “Square Frames”.

“It’s Happening Again” is an exercise in the fusion of traditional dance music production and new technology. The main single is an old-school return to classic disco production with influences ranging from Giorgio Moroder to Steve Miller Band. The remixes cover a wide range of styles from Circa Tapes’ Minimal Wave vocal remix feat. Le Sprite to Echonine’s Italo rework.

The single also features special guests Marc Bonadies on Bass and Roger Panella on Guitar.
